Tutbury Castle

Tutbury Castle has an extraordinary history dating back to shortly after the Norman Conquest of 1066. It has played host to Edward I, Edward II, John of Gaunt, Henry IV, Margaret of Anjou, Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scots (she was kept as a prisoner of the castle on four occasions), James I, Charles I and Prince Rupert (during the Civil War). Apart from its fascinating history the castle nowadays plays host to a wide range of events including ghost hunts, fairs, music festivals, even weddings and medieval 'Hand Fast' ceremonies.
